Templates

 

Please make sure to follow the YSM brand guidelines in all designs: including font, colour and imagery.

Making a Canva account

  1. Go to canva.com and choose SIGN UP in the top right corner. You should create your account using your YSM Google account by choosing SIGN UP WITH GOOGLE. Complete the sign-up steps to get to the home screen.

Opening and Copying Templates

  1. If using the templates for the first time: click the link for the template and choose USE TEMPLATE on the first screen.

  2. Once you have used a template once, it will show up on your home page. You can edit the same template by simply clicking on the thumbnail.

  3. If you would like to make a new marketing piece with the template, hover over the thumbnail and click the 3 dots in the top right corner and choose MAKE A COPY. The copy will appear on the home screen. Open it to start editing.

Editing Templates

Editing Text

  1. Click on the area of text you need to edit. A blue box will appear around the text field indicating edit-mode. Use the text field as you would any word processor.

  2. Text options can be found along the top of the screen; font, size, underline, bullets etc.

Changing & Adding Images

  1. In the left toolbar choose UPLOADS. Here you can upload images from your device using the UPLOAD MEDIA button.

  2. The file will upload just below the UPLOAD MEDIA button.

  3. Once the photo is uploaded, click and drag the image into the image box already in the template. The new image will replace the old one.

Using YSM Colours

If you need to change the colour of an element (font, background etc.) you must use the YSM colours.

  1. Font colour: Select font. In the top menu bar click the A (the line will indicate the current font colour). NOTE: Only Black and White should be used for font colour for best readability.

  2. Background or shape: Click the area to change, then click the colour square in the top left.

  3. Paste the HEX number of the YSM colour into the search box that appears in the top left and chose that colour box.

Saving and Exporting

Canva auto-saves as you work.

Name your project in the purple bar at the top, to the left of SHARE.

You can collaborate on Canva projects with teammates by clicking the SHARE button. By sharing a link to edit you will both be able to work and make changes to the same project.

Download your project with the downward-facing arrow button. Under FILE TYPE you can choose how to save it, it will be saved in your download folder the device.
